HOW TO MEASURE FOR SHUTTERS
To measure for shutters, follow these steps:
Determine the type of shutters you want to install. There are many different styles of shutters, including interior, full height, cafe-style, and tier- on- tier. Knowing which type of shutters you want will help you measure accurately.
Measure the width of the window opening. Measure the distance between the inside edges of the window frame at the top, middle, and bottom of the window. Write down the narrowest measurement.
Measure the height of the window opening. Measure the distance from the top inside edge of the window frame to the bottom inside edge of the frame on the left, center, and right sides inside of the window. Write down the shortest measurement.
Measure the depth of the window opening. Measure the distance from the front of the window opening to the window frame. This will help you determine the depth of the shutter frame needed.
Determine the frame size. The frame size of the shutter is based on the size of the window opening and the depth of the window. Measure the depth of the window and add the desired amount of overlap to the frame. This will depend on the type of shutter and the look you want to achieve.
Consider obstruction. If there are any obstacles, such as handles or locks, that extend beyond the window frame, measure their distance from the edge of the frame and note their location. This will help you determine if any adjustments need to be made to the shutters to accommodate the obstruction.
Double -check your measurements. Make sure you have recorded accurate measurements and that you have measured in inches consistently throughout.
